Stabilizers are used for raisebore hole diameter accuracy. A stabilizer is placed at the beginning of the drill pipe sequence in order to minimize lateral movement within the pilot hole during piloting. Once the pilot hole is complete, the stabilizer attaches to the reamer and is used to greatly reduce the bending stresses that occur during the reaming process.
